Your new role – why is this a great opportunity?

We offer the right candidate an exciting job opportunity within our R&D Category Cluster team. As an ACM, you work across a range of outsourcing and contracting activities across our clinical studies well supported by the other team members. No two days are the same, yet some of the primary activities our R&D category team embarks on are category and project portfolio execution, including alignment with our business, defining sourcing strategy, building and issuing RFXs, negotiating Work Orders and Change Orders. Our R&D category team likewise manages our strategic clinical vendors and lead improvement projects across the clinical categories, in close alignment with the Lundbeck business.

Corporate Procurement is a global function consisting of +30 experienced and passionate colleagues located in Copenhagen, Krakow and Chicago. Together we secure a professional and efficient source-to-pay process across the full Lundbeck value chain. We take outset in our strongly integrated Category Management processes and deliver value through our structured approach to planning, project execution as well as stakeholder- and supplier management. We ensure spend transparency, compliance and efficient line of business support through state-of-the-art procurement systems, well defined procedures and most importantly clear cross functional collaboration. We believe in ongoing development of people and teams. With a strong mix of experience, Lundbeck insights and diverse competencies across the team we develop each other just as we learn from external innovation and best-practices.


What you bring to the team

Our new Associate Category Manager will join a team of 5 Category Managers and 3 Associate Category Managers within the R&D Category Cluster. We work individually as well as in teams where sparring and mutual support are key in the way we interact.


As an Associate Category Manager within Clinical Studies, you will:

  • Take the responsibility – in close collaboration with the Category Managers and Senior Category Managers in the category team – for the sourcing activities relating to clinical studies, globally across Lundbeck.
  • Drive outsourcing projects and processes within Clinical Studies, hereunder run RFPs, Bid Defense Meetings and negotiate Work Orders, Change Orders and contracts in close alignment with Lundbeck’s line of business and management – all based on category management methodology.
  • Play an essential role in the further development and execution of clinical category strategies within for example lab services and wearables/devices as well as further implementation of Lundbeck’s Clinical Sourcing Strategy and ensure long term stakeholder alignment of both.
  • Participate in lifecycle management of the relevant contract portfolio and strategic vendor relations, ensuring continued commercial and legal governance and value generation.
  • Take part in the close collaboration with internal key stakeholders to secure project and strategy alignment
  • Ensure clinical study quality & timelines, compliance, intellectual property, liability and regulatory requirements and overall Lundbeck long term interests across the contract portfolio

How your colleagues would describe you

We are looking for the following qualifications in our future Associate Category Manager:

  • Project management skills demonstrated through a minimum of 3 years’ experience managing projects either in or related to Clinical Development (for example as clinical study/trial manager, procurement role, or similar).
  • Profound understanding of clinical studies is a key requirement, but we are open to where your experience comes from. This could be from past roles in both pharmaceutical development or a more procurement related role with experience in clinical studies.
  • Business partnering skills, ability to influence and an emphatic mind-set.
  • An interest in building or further building your outsourcing skills (project management, negotiations, legal understanding, data analysis and Category Management).
  • A Master’s Degree from a University or Business School relevant to the position.
  • At least 3 years of experience with Clinical Studies and outsourcing of these.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and a structured approach.
  • The ability to manage many projects and tasks simultaneously with a high level of commitment.
  • A keen interest for outsourcing and in continuously developing your skill set both as an individual and together with your colleagues.
  • English fluency, verbally and written.
