Future Learning offers innovative short-stay communicative English courses to learners of between 10 and 17 years of age from all over the world. These courses take place in the peak summer season in our centres in Ireland. We also cater to mini-stay groups and high school learners during the academic year. The school is responsible for arranging courses, accommodation and transport as well as providing 24-hour support for welfare issues and a dedicated programme of social activities for these learners, who book directly or through language travel agents and may come as individuals or as part of a group.

Start Date & Training: June 26th - Aug 12th
Duration: 6 weeks + 1 week prep of evening (remote) and training
Typical Hours: 16:30 - 23:30 over 6 days plus 3 hours for coordination meetings during the week (This may vary)
Rate: €575 per week + Meals and Accommodation when on Campus
Job purpose:
To act as Residential Manager of a Technology Enhanced English Language summer centre for younger learners of 10-18 years of age as well the possibility of adult learners in Dublin and Athlone. To manage all aspects of residential accommodation for the summer programme including learner welfare and behaviour, running costs, relations with group leaders. The arrivals are from the end of June with the peak period being July continuing into August with reduced numbers.
A typical day would include bringing students to have breakfast and ensure they are on time for lessons reporting and absences or lateness to DoS. Dealing with residential accommodation queries from group leaders as well as leading evening activities.
Key responsibilities (non-exhaustive):
- Liaising with Academic and Activity Managers on schedules
- Ensuring there is a plan for the evening activity with some flexibility for bad weather.
- Welcoming and briefing students on arrival to the residence and assigning them to rooms according to rooming list
- Ensuring accommodation standards are satisfactory, that cleaning and laundry are done as agreed and students keep their space tidy.
- Working with the restaurant to ensure they have up to date numbers for meals and that they are informed of any allergies and that menus delivered are as agreed and any reasonable requests are accommodated.
- Organising mealtime supervision and ensuring students are there in the assigned slot.
- Scheduling and supervising a range of evening activities and implementing a back up if there is an issue along with an additional Sunday excursion.
- Monitoring and managing the conduct of students in the restaurant, residence and on activities.
- Looking after the safety and welfare of Future learning students on campus at all times including general Health and Safety and Child Protection together with Academic Manager (who is the Deputy Designated Liaison Person).
- Working with group leaders to manage their group and dealing with an issues they raise on behalf of the students
- Liaising with management of the residence, the caterers and other service providers
- Scheduling residential staff and ensuring they keep within working time limits and to allow for breaks and days off, including delegating duties for own day off.
- Meet the leaders at dinner and brief them about evening activities ahead, with minimal last minute changes for that evening's activities.
- Arrange laundry service with a weekly collection.
